Google announced yesterday that there will be a releasing a new algorithm TODAY! Sometimes they give us a little more advanced notice but this could have been the small little updates that we have been noticing over the past months.
The Announcement
Google announced on their Google Search Central Twitter with the news. Luckily, they said that we will have about a few weeks for the full rollout.
It's hard to imagine that Google would introduce a major algorithm update that is specifically designed to impact site rankings during the busiest shopping season of the year. That's why we're wondering - will our websites be negatively affected this holiday season?
Previously Google took breaks before the holiday shopping season, it was Google’s gift to webmasters said former Googler Matt Cutts.
Danny Sullivan of Google responded to the timing of this update on Twitter:
How often does Google update their search engines?
Each day, Google usually releases one or more changes designed to improve our search results. Most aren't noticeable but help us incrementally continue to improve. Sometimes, an update may be more noticeable. We aim to confirm such updates when we feel there is actionable information that site owners, content producers or others might take in relation to them.
There are some updates that are extremely noticeable. We saw a big update this summer 2021 that changed a lot of website owners organic website traffic, in fact, 92% of websites that were previously on the first page of Google failed the algorithm guidelines.

What does this Google update look like?
A core ranking update typically means that there are no particular SEO changes expected, but Google will be making some tweaks to its algorithms. Listen for any indication of whether your site will see an improvement or a decline in search engine rankings after this update takes place. If you don’t notice anything around January 2022, then it could be due to the fact that your website will not be affected.
Google’s guidance regarding broad core algorithm update are as follows:
Expect widely noticeable effects, such as spikes or drops in search rankings.
Core updates are “broad” in the sense that they don’t target anything specific. Rather, they’re designed to improve Google’s systems overall.
Pages that drop in rankings aren’t being penalized; they’re being reassessed against other web content that has been published since the last update.
Focusing on providing the best possible content is the top recommended way to deal with the impact of a core algorithm update.
Broad core updates happen every few months. Sites might not recover from one update until the next one rolls out.
Improvements do not guarantee recovery. However, choosing not to implement any improvements will virtually guarantee no recovery.
This update seems to be a wait and see type of maneuver. However, if you do not have any way of running a website audit, or can track your Google Analytics and Google Search Console, you will not know if this update decided
